How Long Will the PS2 Be Around?
It seems as if Sony's PS2 is still going strong even after the launch of the PS3. The old Xbox is done and Gamecube is done but the PS2 is still selling well and continues to have new games being made.

My question to everyone is how long do you think that the PS2 will go on with systems being sold and new games being developed?

it seems that there are still more games coming out for PS2 than there are games for PS3.

I can assure you people the PS2 will still be around and popular years after i post on this topic right now.

Look at the games comming out for it. The PS3 needs to catch up fast

ps 2 discontinued.....no
i was watching e3 this year and they said that they had no plans of ps2 going away they said that it is going to have 128 games coming out this year

Persona 4 just came out for the PS2, and it was awesome in my opinion. It shows that the PS2 is a long way from dieing.

i think at some point if the PS3 has a games the read the ps2 memory card files then it would turn the ps2 into another hardrive for the ps3.

Since they just now did away with the backwards compatibility for the PS3...I say PS2 sticks around for a goood while. At least a few more years. The earlier versions of PS3 had the backwards compatibility, but the most recent model does not. Sony said that this was unnessecary because the sales of PS2s were running strong so it was really just extra work for the manufacturing of the PS3.

Anyway, definitely around for a while. Honestly, I held on to my PS2 for a good while. Just got a PS3 about 6 months ago!

As of 2010 sony has disabled the Ps2 online support
with all of the ps2 games offline here in a few months is backwards compatibility really going to be helpfull or hurt full so the ps2 is still selling because people want a console for 100.00-200.00 not 300.00 so i would like to see this year where sony goes.

one can only guess.
