Ps2 Hdd?

I am kinda new on this added feature for the Playstation2. I am just wondering what this feature is for? Its seems to be an old feature based on wiki. I was just able to bump about this while I was checking in ebay. Does this mean that I could save games just like the concept of PS3 and Xbox. Hmmm so this concept have been here already for a while. Hehehehe

Ok the idea was this.

Let's build a 40 gig hard drive for the fat ps2.

Let's speed up loading time to help games like.

Socom II

Resident Evil Outbreak.

And the online failure final fantasy 11 online.

Now you wonder why this device failed..

1. 199.99 to get the linux kit with the hard drive.

2. 99.99 to get the hard drive with PS2 version of final fantasy 11

3. Rigged hard drive the 40 gig hard drive is firmware rigged to the console you cannot use any other drive no upgrading.

4. All though you could install the hard drive the hard drive was rigged to hard drive only software....

The only saving grace for this device....

Is...

The ability to copy save files from the ps2 memory card to the hard drive to save space on your memory cards.
