Tutorial how to transfer game saves that are not trophy assigned

Ok so if you have a ps3 and are confused about how to transfer game saves here is the tutorial..

This covers all firmwares untill 3.15 when it changes.

Item's needed:

1. A Pc (sorry mac users but because mac os x writes the save file as a unix binary you cannot use macintosh for this)

2. A Usb thumb drive

3. The game save of your choice (Warning games with trophys won't work if you try to use a save with trophys the save file will load but you will not be able to save or receive new trophy's)

4. Two folders depending on version of firmware.


How to install..

1. Plug in your thumb drive to your computer.

2. Make sure the drive is formatted in fat 32. (Ntfs not allowed)

3. Create a new folder called PS3 all in caps.

4. open folder PS3 and create another folder inside of it.

How to name the next folder:

if you have older firmware before 3.15 the folder needs to be called GAMESAVES all in caps.

if you have 3.15 the folder is called SAVEDATA all in caps

Once the folder is created we will move on to part 2.


PART TWO:

1. Download your favorite save file for your game.

Now for a warning:

Certain save files come compressed in different way's some come in zip and some come in rar my recommendation is to download winrar it will extract all files not matter what.

When downloading save files you will notice two thing's

1. some files decompress a ps3 folder open the folder open the gamesave or save data folder depending on firmware version and copy the next folder out of there and to the thumb drive in the gamesave folder or savedata folder.

2. some files come like this c:/scus989_gow this folder would then be copied to the save data or gamesave folder on the thumb drive.


part 3:

now attach the thumb drive to the ps3 once finished the save data option on the ps3 blade will appear with a usb thumb drive under it..

press triangle select copy and you are done.


Questions:

Q: 1. can i use these saves online.

A: yes but there is a trick to that you need to open the save file offline on the ps3 with the game and at least play one level through once saved the user name will change to that of your playstation account. and you can play online.

Q: 1. is there a list of games this works with

A: 2. Yes so far these titles work with this method.

1. unreal tournament 3

2. motorstorm

3. oblivion / not game of the year edition.

4. WWE: smackdown vs raw 2008

And it should work with more games that are not trophy assigned.
